The Old Dundalk Society is delighted to announce the second lecture in its winter series. The lecture tells the Irish Story of the Battle of Messiness (World War 1) which will be presented by a visiting delegation from Heuvelland in Belgium. The Lecture takes place at 10.15am on Saturday morning 18th of November 2023 in County Museum Dundalk.

The Lecture tells the story of the Battle of Messines which took place from the 7th to the 14th of June 1917, near the village of Messines in West Flanders Belgium, during the first World War.

The event will be hosted by the Old Dundalk Society and the presentation on the day will be made by Mr Philippe Mingels World War 1 expert.  Musician and composer Tracey McRory will perform hauntingly evocative music reflecting local stories of World War 1. Please arrive early on Saturday Morning as the venue has limited capacity. Refreshments served after lecture.
