Large crowds gathered in St. Gerard’s Hall, Dundalk, on the 17th and 18th of September to attend a lecture entitled “Dundalk When the Redemptorists Came to Town in 1876”, delivered by Frank O’Callaghan of the Old Dundalk Society. Frank’s presentation, meticulously researched and professionally delivered with an accompanying slide‑show, offered a rich and insightful perspective on life in Dundalk during the late nineteenth century. His work illuminated the social, cultural, and economic character of the town at the time of the Redemptorists’ arrival in 1876, providing audiences with a vivid sense of the era.
Each evening concluded on a warm and reflective note, as members of the audience shared personal memories of their own interactions with the Redemptorist Community over the years. These recollections added a heartfelt dimension to the event.
