The ODS commissioned a limited number of gold medals (100) to celebrate) the Golden Jubilee of the founding of the ODS in 2015. The coin was 9cm in diameter and showed the coat of arms of Dundalk on one side and the tower of the old Franciscan monastery in Seatown on the reverse

From time to time the ODS will receives invitations to attend events connected with local history and the society is always honoured to participate in these gatherings. One recent event involved the unveiling of the newly erected World War 1 memorial by Louth County Council at the Garda Barracks Dundalk. The ODS were also delighted to attend the 275th anniversary of the founding of Dundalk Grammar School (DGS). The President of ODS (Michael Gaynor) presided over a ceremony to rename many of the buildings on the DGS campus.
