The Old Dundalk Society is delighted to announce the second of its Spring lectures of the 2024 season. The lecture entitled thewill take place in Louth County Museum Jocelyn Street Dundalk on Thursday 25th April 2024, commencing at 8.00pm sharp. The lecture will be presented by Fr Michael Murtagh, born in Banbridge in County Down in 1958 and reared in the area of Crossmaglen in South Armagh. Since his ordination in 1986 he has worked in Dundalk, Ardee, Dunleer. and is now back in Dundalk.  Fr Murtagh graduated with a Bachelor of Divinity degree at Honours level and has since studied psychology at post-graduate level and has published several works in Local History. He is on the council of the County Louth Archaeological and Historical Society and lectures on Local History topics and has had articles published in both local history and theological journals. His published works include Saint Patrick’s Dundalk, An Anniversary Account 1997, Ardee A Pictorial History, Kildemock The Jumping Church, Answering the Call, From Lann Leire to Dunleer and Saint Brigid’s Church Dunleer -A History. Patrons are advised to come early, as there is limited capacity available at the lecture. Voluntary contribution at the door.
